CRKT Lift Off

The CRKT Lift Off comes with either a combo blade or the standard non-serrated blade. Either blade is 3.5″ of uncoated stainless steel tucked into a black zytel and stainless grip. It balances function with a bit of style. The knife comes with a removable clip for easy access. CRKT’s patent pending Fire Safe design prevents the knife from opening in your pocket and putting you in the soprano section of the choir.

You can’t complain much about the Lift Off. It has a nice look, but the safety is really where this knife shines. CRKT has an entire video on their Fire Safe technology, which we’ve posted below, but for those that don’t have the time: The safety is basically built onto the thumb stud and gives it a natural feel when it is opened. The overall balance is good as are the construction materials, with one exception. The clip doesn’t feel secure. It could just be me, but I’d hate to climb down a ladder just to pick up a knife. All in all though, it’s not a crippling defect, and again, it could just be me.

Clip aside, the Lift Off is an excellent choice for everyday usage. Materials are good and quality is sound. This knife could just as easily join me on the boat as it could fit in with the rest of my toolbox.
