CRKT Fulcrum Flame

Designed by Tom Stokes, the CKRT Fulcrum Flame is a fun little blade that accentuates style over all else. This makes it a great choice for hobbyists and collectors.

Blade Length: 2.75 in (6.99 cm)
Closed Length: 4.25 in (10.8 cm)
Open Overall Length: 7 in (17.78 cm)

CRKT has become known for their eye-popping designs, and the Fulcrum Flame is not an exception to this rule. The Fulcrum Flame boasts an attractive 2.75 inch blade that slides cleanly into its sleek and sexy handle. Structurally, the Flame uses a high-carbon stainless steel “InterFrame” build and a steel pivot at the back spacer. They have designed the handle well to sit in most hands comfortably, but it’s with the assisted opening that the Fulcrum Flame begins to show its warts. It’s one click to open to a 90-degree angle, and then it takes some manipulation to open the rest of the way. The CRKT website boasts that with practice it becomes one natural motion.

However, the feedback we’ve heard suggests that many buyers have trouble learning how to open the knife in a single motion in the manner described on the CKRT website. This right here is a deal-breaker for most buyers. Otherwise, you’d be shopping traditional pocketknives rather than assisted opening knives. The complaints concerning the trouble opening this knife is widespread so prospective buyers would be wise to heed it as warning. In addition, customer reviews suggest that the knife-edge does not hold up well and requires frequent honing.

So, where does this leave the CKRT Fulcrum Flame? Well, as we mentioned earlier, it’s an amazing looking knife and knife enthusiasts may see the need to master its opening as a challenge. That blade also won’t wear down any while in a display as part of a collection. For all the other buyers out there seeking an assisted opening knife for everyday use, you can do much better with your money than the Fulcrum Flame.
